A major European air compressor manufacturer just launched an on-line air compressor and accessory store. In my opinion, this idea may have some negative consequences for customers. To start, this totally dissed the local guys who have been pounding the pavement touting this equipment. The world has taken a drastic turn towards the internet, unfortunately when it comes to making decisions in the air compressor business, horrible mistakes can be made. Thus, proper, economical air compressor installations need local eyes who are familiar with local conditions. Having one customer care center in Houston, Texas cannot serve all customers, some customers will be left in the dirt with only an 866-telephone number when local guys answer their local telephones 24 hours a day 7 days a week and can get a live technician at the job within hours. The reality is that the manufacturer has the objective to push as much iron out the door as possible and go home to family at 5PM while a local business man will be available whenever needed as it is his business, not some corporate giant and his livelihood.
